Team Synergy – Sardar Patel Institute of Technology and Team Plan B – BITS Pilani win the Western region finals of the CIMA Global Business Challenge 2012

Teams will compete with the finalists from South, North and East zones at the India finals on March 10th in Mumbai

CIMA announced the winners of Western region finals of the CIMA Global Business Challenge (GBC) 2012 held in Mumbai today Team Synergy – Sardar Patel Institute Of Technology and Team Plan-B – BITS Pilani won the Western region finals of the CIMA GBC 2012. The day saw an overwhelming stream of business insights and ideas. The winning teams were declared after a close competition and will now compete at the National final round scheduled on 10th March in Mumbai, after the Northern and Eastern region finalists are declared. Earlier in the competition Team SHUDH - NIT Suratkhal and Team ENCORE - Christ University Bangalore qualified for the India finals by winning the Southern region finals held at Bangalore.

The 4th CIMA GBC 2012, a unique global case study competition for undergraduates, flagged off with an overwhelming response from students across the country. After an unparalleled success for the last three years, the 4th edition of the CIMA GBC 2012, witnessed over 400 teams from various colleges of immense repute across India registering for the competition. What started with a participation of 5700 students from 08 countries and 125 universities in the year 2009 has grown into a truly global competition. The GBC 2012 witnessed a participation of approximately 1500 plus students from 100 plus universities in India.

The West regional finalists come from varied academic backgrounds. The seven teams who participated in the West regional finals of GBC 2012 are Zenith – NMIMS, The Deal Makers – NMIMS, Synergy – Sardar Patel Institute Of Technology, The Andrean Consultants – St. Andrew's College, Team Ruia4s – Ruia College, Plan-B – BITS Pilani - Goa Campus and Intellect – BITS Pilani - Goa Campus. These teams presented their business proposals to a panel of distinguished jury members consisting of Mr. Allen J Andrade, GM Finance, British Gas Exploration & Production India Ltd., Ms. Asanka Rodrigo, Director, Actis, Mr. Nitish Kirtikar, Total Oil India Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Srinivas Krishnan, MD Crown Worldwide India and Sriram Kameshwar, Financial Controller, Prudential Process Management Services India Pvt. Ltd

Apart from an opportunity to participate in a global competition the participants also received career guidance tips from renowned career counsellor, Mrs. Pratibha Jain.

The participating teams at the CIMA GBC 2012 are expected to analyse, report and present on a CIMA case study. Along with exciting cash prizes for the Global winners, teams winning the regional and national rounds will also get to win a host of prizes and free participation to a host of CIMA workshops. The Indian winners of the GBC 2012 would compete at the global level with the lead teams from 22 other countries like Australia, Bangladesh, Mainland China, Ghana, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Ireland, Malaysia, Middle East, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka and UK in the global finals, in June 2012.
