Well-known Chef Vicky Ratnani demonstrated how Washington Apples along with being a great snack can also be used to add to our cooking and that too with a punch of health. Beside flavor, a pinch of good health chat was done by renowned nutritionist Geetu Amarnani who explained the nutritional value of the recipes and also several benefits of apples at the Aurus, Juhu Tara Road, Santacruz.
The cooking demo was aimed to showcase how one can incorporate the range of colorful varieties of Washington Apples into various recipes to enhance the flavour and color of dishes. Vicky prepared several
delicious, easy and healthy recipes with Washington Apples like Apple and Jackfruit Salad, Green Apple Risotto with Hazelnuts, Colonial Apple and Pumpkin Bisque and Chicken Breast with Apples and Gorgonzola at a cooking Demo.

Remarking on the sweet and juicy fruit, Chef Vicky Ratnani said, "Apples add a delicious flavor to a variety of dishes. You can use them in salads and soups, use them in baking for cookies and breads or add them to your favourite dessert. Washington Apples offer a variety both in terms of colors and flavor, scent and textures enabling them to enhance a wide range of dishes. Each variety provides a different crunch, crispness, sweetness or tartness enabling one to choose according to their taste preferences. While some of the varieties of Washington Apples are available in India, as a Chef I look forward to being able to choose from more varieties soon."
Commenting on the nutritional aspect of apples, Nutritionist Geetu Amarnani remarked "Apples provide a complete body health benefit. Apart from apples being brain healthy, they are a delicious source of dietary fiber, which helps aid digestion and promotes weight loss. Apples contain a wide variety of flavonoid compounds which are good for the heart. With richness of fibre, apples also are low in calories and fat and sodium and contain vitamins, minerals to boost vitality to stay active throughout the day. Apart from just eating apple as a fruit & in salad there are many other ways it can be cooked and included in daily diet. The best thing about apples is that they are absolutely free from fat and cholesterol. Apples are a delicious source of dietary fiber, and dietary fiber helps aid digestion and promotes weight loss. A medium apple contains about five grams of fiber, more than most cereals. Apples have high nutrient content compared to the calorie per serving, promote health, protect against diseases and improve daily functioning. Lower blood cholesterol, improved bowel function, reduced risk of stroke, prostate cancer, type II diabetes and asthma."
